Five Manning Valley finalists in 2009 Mid North Coast Tourism Awards
From the 36 finalists just announced in the prestigious 2009 CountryLink Mid North Coast Tourism Awards, the Manning Valley has excelled this year with five entries reaching the finals.
Free power usage meters now available from Council
Residents of Greater Taree now have free access to Power Usage Meters so they can calculate how much energy each appliance in their house actually consumes.

Manning Valley Tourism will launch a new promotional DVD titled: “The Treasures of the River and Rainforest Coast” promoting the Manning Valley next Tuesday 28 July at 1pm.
ABC Mid North Coast Knit-In donations are coming in fast!
Greater Taree City Libraries are participating in the ABC Mid North Coast Knit In, a fantastic community event supporting the organisation ‘Wrap With Love’. The libraries will be hosting ‘knitting’ mornings and are drop off points for knitted squares.
Council commits to obtain funding for Taree Airport
Greater Taree City Council, at its ordinary meeting on Wednesday night, has agreed to seek funding for the full rehabilitation of the Taree Regional Airport runway and for the General Manager to develop specifications and seek tenders, in accordance with Local Government Tendering Regulations.
National Tree Day Celebrated in the Manning
Taree Landcare invite all present and future environmental custodians to roll up their sleeves, grab their shovels and celebrate National Tree Day with a tree planting day at Saxby’s Park on Sunday 2nd August between 9.30am and 1pm.
Council included in climate change funding project
Greater Taree City Council has been successful in receiving a share of a $139,000 climate change grant from the Australian Government to assist councils to prepare its local communities for the future impacts of climate change.
Council negotiates for ownership of Australian Technical College
Greater Taree City Council has commenced negotiations to take over the ownership of the Australian Technical College with one of the options for future use of the facility being an ‘innovation centre’.
2009 Battle of the Bands
Greater Taree City Council Youth Services and Great Lakes Homebase Youth Service are once again partnering to host the 2009 Battle of the Bands.
Mid North Coast Group of Councils meet at Harrington
The General Managers and Mayors of the Mid North Coast Group of Councils (MIDGOG) met at Harrington recently where the major issues of joint regional planning panels, emergency response centres and early warning systems were discussed.

Greater Taree City Council is encouraging the community to join together to support NAIDOC Week by embracing this years theme: ‘Honouring our elders and nurturing our youth’.
Neil Cuthbert Exhibition at the Manning Regional Art Gallery
A survey exhibition of many very large and vibrant pictures by Neil Cuthbert will open with a Visual Arts Expo and Forum on Saturday July 4th, commencing at 10am at the Manning Regional Art Gallery.
