Taree Australia Day Celebrations

Taree's celebrations at Queen Elizabeth Park on the Manning River foreshore will commence at 7:30am with a free breakfast (sausage sizzle, damper, coffee, tea) and entertainment featuring Wingham Pipes and Drums, Greater Taree City Band, Jake Davey, the Gymaroos gymnastic display and Russell Saunders. There will be flags and tattoos available for the children.

The formal cermony will commence at 9am in Saltwater Freshwater's Yarn Tent with:

  • Welcome to Country
  • Flag Placement
  • Young Speaker's Address by St Clare's High School Captain Harrison Lofts
  • Address by State Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead MP
  • Citizenship Ceremony
  • Address by Australia Day Ambassador Jeremy Donovan
  • Australia Day Awards

The Taree Program is available for your information.

In the event of wet weather, the celebrations will be held at the Manning Entertainment Centre.

Stay after the Australia Day Ceremony for the Saltwater Freshwater Festival which commences at 10am.

Celebrations around the Manning Valley

Celebrations will also be held at Wingham, Old Bar, Harrington and Hallidays Point.

  • Wingham Central Park - 7.30am Free breakfast, flag raising, Australia Day addresses and community awards, with Councillor Brad Christensen in attendance
  • Old Bar Park - 7.30am Free breakfast, flag raising, Australia Day addresses and community awards, with Councillor Robyn Jenkins in attendance
  • Harrington Memorial Hall - 7am Free breakfast, 8am flag raising, Australia Day addresses and community awards, with Councillor Trent Jennison in attendance
  • Hallidays Point - Blackhead Beach - 7.30am Free breakfast, flag raising, Australia Day addresses and community awards, with Councillor Alan Tickle in attendance.  A gold coin donation will be requested for the Lions Australian Disaster Appeal to assist those affected by the current bushfire emergency.
