Pollution Incident Response Management Plan Notice - 23 February 2013

As a result of the current high rainfall, the storage ponds for management of leachate at the Bucketts Way landfill were breached at approximately 5:30pm Saturday evening, 23 February 2013.

In addition to the existing arrangements to pump water from this storage system to sewer, additional tanker trucks have been utilised to minimise the volume of spill able to leave the site.

Council has implemented its adopted Pollution Incident Response Management Plan for the landfill, which includes notification to relevant authorities and nearby landholders.

As a result of the high rainfall, the water leaving the site is highly diluted, however downstream landholders have been advised to avoid human and stock contact with the water within Dennes Creek until further notice in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures under the Plan.
