Meetings

The meeting cycle for the balance of the Greater Taree City Council’s 2008-12 term of office is:

* One Council meeting per month being held on the 4th Wednesday in January, 3rd Wednesday for the months of February to November (inclusive) and the 2nd Wednesday in December, commencing at 5pm.

* Any alterations will be by resolution of Council and advised in the local newspaper and on Council’s website.

Agendas & Minutes

Agendas for Council meetings are available at each meeting or may be inspected at the Administration Centre, 2 Pulteney Street Taree, Council's Wingham Office, Wynter Street Wingham and at the Taree, Wingham, Harrington, Hallidays Point and Old Bar Libraries.

Addressing Council Meetings

Members of the public are welcome to address Council meetings on items listed on the Agenda.

If you wish to address a Council meeting on a nominated item, please complete & return the Request To Address Council form by 4pm the day prior to the meeting.

Members of the public requesting to address the Council should follow the Guidelines for Speaking at Council meetings protocols.

Pre Meeting Question Time

  • The Pre Meeting Question Time will only be held if Council receives and approves any registrations from the public to address the Councillors. To confirm if this forum will be held, please contact the Executive Office by phoning 6592 5301 on the Tuesday prior to each Ordinary Meeting.
  • Council will hold a 30-minute Public Question / Submission session prior to each Ordinary Meeting.
  • The open forum session is not part of the formal meeting structure and no formal debate or resolutions will result. It is designed as an opportunity for Councillors to hear public suggestions, ideas or concerns.
  • The public forum will be held from 4.15 – 4.45 pm.
  • Public Forum sessions will be limited to 6 time slots of 5 minutes duration.
  • Each speaker shall be limited to one 3 minute presentation and an allowance for 2 minutes for any questions / responses by Council.
  • Each speaker shall be limited to one topic.
  • The pre-meeting session will be open to members of the public and the media.
  • Council will not approve requests to address the pre-meeting public question time in relation to any active development applications currently before Council.
  • Please note that submissions in relation to development applications are included as part of the development process.

Registration for Public Questions & Submissions

  • Members of the public who wish to ask a question or make a submission at the session must provide their question or a précis of their submission in writing to the General Manager at least two working days prior to the meeting.
  • A delegated Council officer will be available to assist members of the public in submitting their question/submission by contacting Council's Customer Service Centre by phone on 6592 5399, email or in person.
  • If you wish to address a Pre-meeting Public Question Time, please complete & return the Request to Address Pre-meeting Public Question Time Form by 4pm the Monday prior to the meeting.
  • We have prepared Guidelines for addressing the Pre- meeting Public Question Time.

If you can't make it to a meeting, there is a delayed broadcast of proceedings on 2BOB radio 104.7FM, starting at 9.00pm
