The Manning River and its tributaries are a major attraction for locals and visitors to the area. Access to the river and ocean for boating activities contributes not only to the lifestyle of residents but also our local economy.
The Manning Valley Boating Infrastructure Plan examines current boating facilities in the Manning Valley, their usage, condition and potential future improvements. Given the current number of facilities in the Manning Valley and their ageing conditions, it is important to take a holistic approach to any new infrastructure to firstly ensure they are needed, they are proposed in the right location and finally, funding is available to maintain them in the long term.
Partnerships between community/business groups and Local and State Government will increase the opportunity to be successful in obtaining funds to upgrade existing and construct new facilities as identified in the plan.
As such the purpose of this plan is to identify the priority for improved boating infrastructure, enabling various groups to work together to improve facilities where they are most needed, in a manner that considers the long term viability of the boating infrastructure.
