Landfill Water Quality Data

Recent changes to environmental protection legislation as a result of the Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011 requires Council to publish surface water, leachate and landfill surface gas monitoring data from our landfill site from 1 July 2012.

This page provides the monitoring data results on Landfill Water Quality for Bucketts Way Landfill.

Greater Taree City Council is the holder of an Environment Protection Licence issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) under the Protection of the Environment Act 1997, for Bucketts Way Landfill.

Council staff takes the water samples at the following sample points:

1. At Leachate Pond
2. Downstream of Roadway to Lot 143
3. Upstream if the Bucketts Way at Dennes Creek
4. Downstream if Beauly Road as Dennes Creek

Water samples are collected quarterly at each site and are sent to a National Association of Testing Authorities ( NATA ) accredited laboratory (Midcoast Water Laboratory,Accreditation No.: 12902) for analysis of pH, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) ,Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Ammonia-Nitrogen, Nitrate-Nitrogen, Nitrite-Nitrogen and Oxidised Nitrogen.All results are compared to the Australian New Zealand Environment Conservation Council’s (ANZECC) guidelines.
