Tourism Function to Launch New Branding of the Manning Valley's Natural Assets

Thursday 5th November 2009

Manning Valley Tourism is holding a partnership function on Tuesday the 10th November at Club Taree at 6.00pm to launch the new tourism branding campaign for the Manning Valley. The function will also be encouraging local businesses to join the Tourism Partnership Program to further promote the Manning Valley and to increase visitation.

The new branding campaign started with the five new highway billboards promoting the natural attractions and wonders of the Manning Valley in October and has been followed by a new TV advertising campaign that is currently airing on Prime, NBN and the Go Channel until the end of November.

Manning Valley Tourism Coordinator, Kim MacDonald said, “It’s hoped that 80 to 100 people will attend the function where Manning Valley Tourism will give an update on the future direction of tourism in the region.”

“Our continual aim is to increase visitation to the area and to encourage local businesses to join the partnership program so we can augment our promotion of the region. 100% of the partnership dollars are used to externally promote the area through TV advertising,” said Ms MacDonald.

The new TV commercials, together with the new billboards, highlight the beautiful natural assets of the Manning Valley and entice people to take a break and visit. For so many people it’s just a few hours from home and allows the opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and reconnect….naturally.

“Australians have accumulated about 123 million days of annual leave so if we can entice people to take that leave and holiday in the Manning Valley due to our natural assets and accessibility, the area stands to benefit in a variety of ways,” said Kim MacDonald.

Tourism and travel directly accounts for one in every 21 jobs in Australia with NSW attracting 54% of international visitors. Domestic and international visitors to NSW destinations outside Sydney generate a staggering 68 million nights of accommodation in regional areas and $11 billion in income for local communities. Tourism directly employs 158,000 people in NSW. A further 109,650 people are employed in jobs that are related to the tourism industry.

Chris Ryan, Economic Development Manager said, “We are establishing an identity that conjures up a positive image. Purpose-driven branding is about finding the meaning behind the brand and orienting everything around that. ‘The Manning Valley…Naturally’ slogan emphasises our strengths, our green environment, fresh air and clean waterways and these strengths were also identified by the local community at the recent Council community engagement forums.”

Ms MacDonald said, “The Manning Valley has the opportunity to become an area that is well known for it’s diversity of natural assets, it’s growing infrastructure to cater for a range of visitors, together with the ideal location for many people in the Sydney, Newcastle, Hunter and New England areas. For all these reasons, we are now promoting the “Manning Valley…Naturally”!
