Australia has one of the highest rates of pet ownership in the world, with an estimated 33 million pets. That's 63% of Australian households. Dogs are the most common pet, with there being about 20 dogs for every 100 people, followed closely by cats, with 15 cats for every 100 people. In addition lots of people have companion horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, fish and other small mammals.

We love our pets.  They are a part of our family.  Our pets bring us companionship, get us out of the house and delight our children.

Pets bring a lot of joy, but they take a lot of responsibility too. You can support your pet and community by remembering your responsibilities as a pet owner.
