In an effort to increase community participation in Seniors Week 2010 activities, Greater Taree City Council has announced a new Small Grants Program aimed at local seniors and community groups.
The grants program is open to those community groups operating in the Greater Taree local government area that are interested in coordinating an activity for seniors during Seniors Week 2010. To be successful, applicants must be coordinating an activity during Seniors Week (20 – 28 March 2010) that is open to the public and applications must be submitted on an official application form before Thursday 24 December 2009.
Council’s Manager Community Services, Laura Black says: “The idea of the grants programs is to provide some assistance to local community groups that have limited means of raising funds and that are thinking of joining the Seniors Week celebrations. Ideally activities will range from active to passive, will appeal to the broader seniors population and will serve to increase participation in individual club activities.”
Successful applications will include free advertising in Council’s official program of events. Application forms are available from Council’s Community Development & Health counter or can be completed online and forwarded to Council. To access the application form online follow the links through: Your Council/Community Services/Older People.
Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 29 January 2010 following consideration by a panel of Manning Social Development Committee members.
