| Arts and Crafts abound in the Manning Valley | | The Manning Valley features a wide array of arts and craft establishments, many located in breathtaking hinterland and seaside settings. Take your time to explore the superb range of locally made craft.
Taree is also the centre for the Manning Regional Art Gallery in Macquarie Street where there is a consistently changing array of local and travelling exhibitions. The Gallery is open Wednesday through to Saturday 10am to 4pm and on Sundays from 1pm to 4pm. In addition to providing a superb and constantly changing array of visual arts at the Manning Regional Art Gallery.
Taree is also a major centre for performing arts at the Manning Entertainment Centre located off Manning River Drive adjacent to the Manning Valley Visitors Centre. This Centre is the major performing arts venue on the Mid North Coast. The 505 proscenium arched theatre offers tierred seating, wheelchair access, hearing loop, choice of grand or upright pianos, licensed bar and presents national and touring artists, local productions, school presentations, conferences and seminars as well as the Taree District Eisteddfod, now the biggest in country Australia.
If you're a craft enthusiast, love handmade gifts and home decor items then you shouldn't miss a visit to the Taree Craft Centre or the Craft Cottage. The Craft Centre is located adjacent to the Manning Valley Visitors Centre on Manning River Drive and is open daily 9.30am to 4pm and the delightful 1904 Craft Cottage is located on the corner of High and Pulteney Streets and is open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays. At both outlets you will find delightful handcrafted products made by local craftspeople including jams and pickles, biscuits and sweets, woodwork, leadlight, folk art, decorative painting, jewellery, paper tole, lampshades and much more.
Artisans Retreat is the Manning Valley's newest craft and teahouse outlet and is located on Tinonee Road at Mondrook. At Artisans Retreat you will find a Gallery filled with unique pieces for sale crafted in wood, metal,glass and fabric featuring local, Australian and International artisans. This retreat is also a venue for workshops where you can learn how to create pieces by wood turning, glass slumping and fusing, paper tole, cross stitch and many more. The retreat also includes a teahouse offering morning and afternoon teas.Owner-operators of Artisans Retreat, Peter and Christine Calabria are pictured above .
Between Taree and Forster located on the corner of Failford Road and the Lakes Way you will find Little Darlings Doll Museum and Coffee Shop where there are over 400 dolls on display. The Museum and Coffee Shop is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm.
